Day by Day

  • Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

This is where all of your planning becomes a reality: your safari starts now. After we greet you at the airport and answer any questions you might have, we'll take great pleasure in taking you out and showing you what we mean.

Arusha is a fun city to explore, a fascinating urban complement to the thrills on offer elsewhere in northern Tanzania's safari parks. Here you'll get to experience lively streets, tasty local food, and busy markets and museums. More than anything else, it's a window into life in a provincial Tanzanian city.

  • Day 2: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park. Known for its large elephant herds, Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s best parks for wildlife sightings, especially elephants. Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive through the park. Keep an eye out for zebras, giraffes, lions, and an impressive variety of birds. The park is famous for its iconic baobab trees, which create a unique landscape.
  • Days 3 & 4: Serengeti National Park

Early breakfast, then depart for Serengeti National Park. This is a longer drive, but you will be rewarded with one of the world’s most famous wildlife destinations. Expect a 4-5 hour drive. Arrive in the Serengeti and begin your first game drive in this vast, iconic park. Depending on the time of year and the area you’re visiting (central or west), you might encounter the great wildebeest migration, predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, or vast herds of buffalo. The second day, after an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive. Serengeti’s early hours are prime time for wildlife sightings, with predators active and animals coming out for their morning routines. You will spend most of the day exploring different parts of the Serengeti, possibly moving further afield to find wildlife and witness the famous Serengeti landscapes.

15 Days trip Tanzania Zanzibar
  • Day 5: Ngorongoro National Park

You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano – quite apart from the altitude – will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor where a unique wildlife offering is added to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever.

  • Day 6: Moshi

After breakfast, we will drive you for a relaxed day at check hot spring, which will take around 2 hours. After your activity in Chemka Hot Spring you will have the rest of the day free to relax or explore the city.

Materuni Waterfall Day Trip
  • Day 7: Departure

Your safari in Tanzania will come to an end, bringing to a close your time in this remarkable country.  We hope you had a great time with this tour of 7 days of Tanzanian Wildlife.

When to go to Tanzania?
The best time for a safari in Tanzania varies according to your expectations. The dry season, from June to October, is ideal for observing animals around waterholes. The wildebeest migration season, from July to September, is also spectacular. The rainy season (March to May) is quieter and offers lower rates.
What are Tanzania's best safari parks?
The best parks for a safari in Tanzania are located in the famous Northern Safari Circuit, a must-see region for lovers of wildlife and spectacular scenery. This circuit includes such iconic destinations as Serengeti National Park, famous for its great annual wildebeest migration; the Ngorongoro Crater, a caldera home to an incredible concentration of wildlife; Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its climbing lions and bird diversity; and Tarangire National Park, renowned for its impressive herds of elephants and majestic baobab trees.
Is Tanzania a safe country for travelers?
Yes, Tanzania is generally a safe country for travellers. Safaris in Tanzania are well supervised by professional guides, and safari areas, as well as hotels and lodges, are secure. However, as with any trip abroad, it is advisable to take standard precautions such as following the recommendations of local authorities, avoiding isolated areas without a guide, and protecting personal belongings. Africa Bucket List ensures that all safety measures are respected to guarantee a safe and serene experience during your stay.
Is the Big 5 in Tanzania possible?
Yes, Tanzania is one of the best places in the world to see the Big 5 (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino). Our safaris cover the country's most iconic areas, such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire Park, where you have an excellent chance of seeing these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Whether you choose a private safari or a photo safari, our expert guides will help you spot these fascinating animals.
Which is the nearest airport to start a safari in Tanzania?
The main gateway is Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for the northern parks. Arusha airport (ARK) offers domestic flights. For the southern parks, use Dar es Salaam (DAR). Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) offers flights to beach destinations. To save time on Safari+Zanzibar holidays, we recommend Kilimanjaro airport as your point of arrival, and a return flight from Zanzibar.
