When to go to Tanzania?
The best time for a safari in Tanzania varies according to your expectations. The dry season, from June to October, is ideal for observing animals around waterholes. The wildebeest migration season, from July to September, is also spectacular. The rainy season (March to May) is quieter and offers lower rates.
What are Tanzania's best safari parks?
The best parks for a safari in Tanzania are located in the famous Northern Safari Circuit, a must-see region for lovers of wildlife and spectacular scenery. This circuit includes such iconic destinations as Serengeti National Park, famous for its great annual wildebeest migration; the Ngorongoro Crater, a caldera home to an incredible concentration of wildlife; Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its climbing lions and bird diversity; and Tarangire National Park, renowned for its impressive herds of elephants and majestic baobab trees.
When can you see the wildebeest migration in Tanzania?
The wildebeest migration in Tanzania is an incredible natural spectacle that takes place every year between June and October. During this period, millions of wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, cross the Serengeti plains on their way to Kenya's Masai Mara. This is a key time for safaris, as you can witness the crossing of tumultuous rivers, a spectacular event often followed by predators such as lions and crocodiles. If you want to enjoy this unique experience, we recommend planning your safari during these months.
Is Tanzania a safe country for travelers?
Yes, Tanzania is generally a safe country for travellers. Safaris in Tanzania are well supervised by professional guides, and safari areas, as well as hotels and lodges, are secure. However, as with any trip abroad, it is advisable to take standard precautions such as following the recommendations of local authorities, avoiding isolated areas without a guide, and protecting personal belongings. Africa Bucket List ensures that all safety measures are respected to guarantee a safe and serene experience during your stay.
Is the Big 5 in Tanzania possible?
Yes, Tanzania is one of the best places in the world to see the Big 5 (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino). Our safaris cover the country's most iconic areas, such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire Park, where you have an excellent chance of seeing these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Whether you choose a private safari or a photo safari, our expert guides will help you spot these fascinating animals.
Which is the nearest airport to start a safari in Tanzania?
The main gateway is Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for the northern parks. Arusha airport (ARK) offers domestic flights. For the southern parks, use Dar es Salaam (DAR). Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) offers flights to beach destinations. To save time on Safari+Zanzibar holidays, we recommend Kilimanjaro airport as your point of arrival, and a return flight from Zanzibar.
